The white-faced plover is a small shorebird found predominantly along the coastal shores of subtropical and tropical eastern Asia. It was described by the British ornithologist Robert Swinhoe, and resembles the east Asian subspecies of the Kentish plover, with which it has been much confused and sometimes considered a subspecies (Wikipedia, general species account).
