The Asian brown flycatcher is an insect-eating flycatcher that breeds in Japan, eastern Siberia and the Himalayas and is migratory, wintering in tropical southern Asia from southern India and Sri Lanka east to Indonesia. It is 13 cm long including the cocked tail, similar to the larger spotted flycatcher but longer-tailed, with a relatively large, broad-based dark bill. The specific name refers to Dauria, an area of south-eastern Siberia (Wikipedia, general species account).
The adult has grey-brown upperparts and whitish underparts with brown-tinged flanks; young birds are scaly brown. It is common in open woodland and cultivated areas (Wikipedia, general species account).
