Müller's blind snake is found in Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, West Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia (Sumatra, Bangka, Nias, Weh and Borneo), with its type locality at Padang in Sumatra; it is not found on Java. It is the only known blind snake that gives birth to live young, in an ovoviviparous mode. It is named after the naturalist Salomon Müller, who collected animals in Indonesia (Reptile Database, general species account).
